Best Self-Empting Robot Vacuums and Mops
The Eufy 11S robot vacuum is one of the cheapest self-emptying vacuums that are available. In our tests, it was able to clean up dry oats on hard floors as well as carpets with a low pile. Its dust bin is open and empty easily, making it easier to use than some other models in its price range.
It is charged at its base and then begins cleaning as soon as it's done. However, its obstacle-avoidance technology gets caught in socks and cords and it can't go under low thresholds.
1. iRobot 11S
The 11S is among the most affordable self-emptying robots and a lot of people seem to like it. It's great for scooting under furniture and appears to be a good option for people with hard floors or who wish to perform light daily cleaning. Its suction may be less powerful than those of our top picks, however it's still able to get the job accomplished. It also comes with a huge dirt bin and a battery that can last for more than an hour. The app allows you to schedule your daily cleaning routine, or select a specific room. You can also create a map of your home to allow the device to stay clear of areas you don't want it visit.
The app is simple to use and has a clear layout. It doesn't come with any advanced features, but it's straightforward enough to use and allows you to keep track of the progress of your robot. It also has an excellent tutorial that will provide you with the basics.
Its cleaning pattern doesn't always appear logical - sometimes it follows straight lines, and other times it focuses on the edges of a room - but Bounce Navigation ensures your entire floor is kept clean. It's not the most effective at climbing obstacles - it had trouble getting under our pet food bowls and piano pedals, and was stuck in our 2.25 inch shag carpet multiple times.
We think that there are better robot vacuums available than the 11S. The iRobot Roomba is much easier to maintain and maintain, with lower recurring costs and is charged faster. It also has a bigger dustbin and performs better on all types of surfaces and can also climb over low-lying obstructions (like electrical cords) more easily.
The RoboVac 11S is a good choice for regular vacuuming. It is designed very similarly to our top pick, and is excellent in removing small particles and dirt on hard floors. It also does a decent job on low-pile and medium-pile carpet. Like the Roomba by iRobot Roomba, it comes with a large dirt compartment and utilizes BoostIQ to automatically adjust suction power. It has an easy-to-use remote control, and you can organize daily cleanings with the app. The battery lasts for around an hour and the bin is easy to empty by taking it from its dock.
2. Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra
Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra robot mop and vacuum is a great robot with an impressive array of features for automation. The Roborock S7 MaxV comes in three different versions of the basic S7 model and the S7 Plus model, and the S7 Ultra. Only the latter comes with an Empty Wash Fill Dock (or an alternative Auto-Empty Dock). These docks allow the robot to return to its home base, empty the collected debris in a dust bag, or reservoir, empty the dirty water tank, and wash its mopping pads.
Sensors on the S7 work together to clear obstacles and clean them. It can identify floor types, save the map of rooms and zones, and even detect levels of dirt. It's also capable of scheduling and carrying out spot-cleaning sessions. It did well in our standard tests, but it wasn't able to exactly match the Roomba j7+ during the carpet deep clean test.
Using the companion app, you can program the S7 to run a cleaning cycle in accordance with your schedule. You can set a date, time, day, or week as well as choose from a variety of cleaning options, like automatic, eco and deep clean. You can also decide whether the robot will stop if it is running out of energy or encounters an obstacle.
If you don't own a smartphone, you can still use the S7 by connecting a remote control to the dock that charges it. The remote controls are a little confusing however once you've got the hang of them, they work great. The power button also functions as the 'Cleaning' option, and the Spot Clean button instructs the robot to clean an area around it. The "Spot Clean" button also triggers the child lock.
Roborock's mobile application has been improved to include a live-view function that allows you to observe what the S7 does at home. You can activate this feature by pressing a particular sequence of buttons on the S7 and then creating an unlock pattern in the app to use any time you wish to observe what the robot is doing.
3. Shark IQ Large
Shark isn't as well-known for its robot vacuums as iRobot and Roborock, but our experience with this model has shown it to be one of the best self-emptying robot vacuums available on the market. It's simple to set up and has a large bin that can be easily emptied (albeit loudly) to a trashcan when it is full. It can also be programmed to sweep the entire house on a schedule.
The IQ XL can connect to your home WiFi that allows you to monitor it via the Shark app and view its battery status as it cleans. The app lets you set up a cleaning routine and receive push notifications about its condition in cleaning, pause it and then restart cleaning, or set it to one specific area. It can also be controlled using voice commands through Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. The app will tell you which power mode it is currently in, namely Eco, Normal, or Max. However, we couldn't determine that any of these modes made a huge difference in cleaning performance.
The IQ XL will automatically empty the trash bin at the end of a cleaning cycle into the base, which will then self-empty. best robot vacuum with self empty can store up to 60 days of debris so you don't need to empty it more than once, unless your pets have long hair. If you must empty it, all you have to do is remove the side bin, place it over a trash can and then press a button that will let you eject the contents.
There's not much to dislike about the Shark IQ XL, although it is a little less well-built than the Roomba 694. It's good of cleaning carpeted floors but doesn't match the iRobot Roomba i7 when it comes to the performance of bare floors. The i7 is also better-built and feels more durable and robust, has lower maintenance requirements, has lower monthly costs, and charges faster while offering comparable battery performance and the most advanced automation features like no-go zones and the ability to pick specific rooms to keep clean.
iRobot J7+
This robot vac and mop combo is a rare beast that does both jobs well. iRobot Combo J7+ comes with all the features and smarts similar to its j7 counterpart including LiDAR map and self-emptying. But it also offers additional features for vacuuming and mopping.
The j7+ makes use of the new acoustic sensor to identify the floor type, so that it can clean or mop the area during its initial pass. It also uses this info to prioritize cleaning rooms with carpet and rugs over those with hard floors.
Like most robotic vacuums, the j7+ is relatively quiet while it's running. It's much quieter when mopping. The highest reading we could get on our decibel meter was 64db, which is similar to the sound of normal office chatter.
It is easy to set up a cleaning schedule and alter the way that dust is cleaned when the canister is full. The j7+ is also controlled by voice assistants, such as Alexa, Google Assistant and others. The app allows you to create and view maps within your home.
In our tests, the J7+ performed well on both hard and carpeted floors, cleaning most of the dirt we threw at it. It has some issues with pet hair and large debris such as sand, however it can remove these items with a little extra effort. It also has decent navigation capabilities and a pair of cliff sensors that stop it from falling down the stairs or stumbling on furniture legs.
The j7+ has a few minor flaws. One of them is that it can get caught on cords or rugs and it doesn't always turn off the mopping function when it's done vacuuming. Otherwise, this is an excellent product that ticks all the right boxes.
The j7+ by iRobot comes with one of the top self-emptying systems we've tested. It deposits its 14oz / 0.4-liter dust container into the base station, where it automatically emptys itself for you to. This helps reduce the amount of garbage you have to throw away and you'll only need to replace the reusable dust bag that is on the dock about every 60 days or so, based on how often you use the J7+.
